Implementasi Ekstrakurikuler Drumband Sholawat dalam Membentuk Karakter Religius Siswa di RA Masyithoh XV Pangenjurutengah Purworejo

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of the Drumband Sholawat extracurricular activity in instilling students’ religious character at Raudhatul Athfal (RA) Masyithoh XV Pangenjurutengah, Purworejo. The background of this research lies in the urgent need to strengthen the foundation of religious character among early childhood learners (the Golden Age) through integrated extracurricular activities, considering the limitations of conventional drumband models that rarely address spiritual aspects explicitly. This descriptive qualitative research employs a case study approach, with research subjects including the principal, implementing teachers, drumband coach, and students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document study. The findings show that the implementation of Drumband Sholawat is proven to be effective and systematic, consisting of three main stages: (1) Planning, in which the integration of sholawat values is incorporated into the weekly syllabus and practice materials; (2) Implementation, which combines rhythmic drumband practice with collective recitation of sholawat, fostering discipline, politeness, and love for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him); and (3) Evaluation, conducted through observational assessment to measure changes in students’ religious behavior. In conclusion, the Drumband Sholawat extracurricular program serves as a unique and transformative model that instills religious values in a recreational and structured manner, making a significant contribution to the formation of students’ religious character at RA Masyithoh XV.
