TRANSFORMASI KURIKULUM PENDIDIKAN ISLAM WASATHIYAH DI MAPK MAN 1 SURAKARTA
Abstract
This research is motivated by the increasing challenges of terrorism and extremism around the world, which threaten peace and unity. In the context of Indonesia, it is important to develop an education system that can prevent radicalization and strengthen the values of moderation. The aim of this research is to discuss the Wasathiyah Islamic Education Curriculum and its implementation at MAPK MAN 1 Surakarta, its implications for education, and the factors influencing its implementation. This study uses a field method with an ethnographic approach through interviews, observations, and documentation, and is analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and data verification. The results of the research indicate that the implementation of the Wasathiyah Islamic Education Curriculum at MAPK MAN 1 Surakarta is structured, starting from planning, implementation, to evaluation, with implications including expanding students' understanding, an inclusive curriculum, strengthening national values, and developing critical thinking. The inhibiting factors include lack of student awareness, peer influence, insufficient understanding, and the impact of social media, while the supporting factors include the creativity of teachers, facilities and infrastructure of the school, school activities, community support, local culture, and the students' backgrounds. The conclusion of this research shows that despite the challenges, the implementation of this curriculum provides a positive contribution to shaping students' moderate character and national perspective.
