Authorship Criteria

Authorship in Al-Ghazali: Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan Islam dan Studi Islam is granted to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript. Routine administrative, technical, or organizational assistance alone does not qualify an individual for authorship. All individuals listed as authors must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of research findings.

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it to improve its significant intellectual content.

  3. Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.

  4. Accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the entire work and be willing to address any concerns regarding its content, methodology, or ethical compliance.

The corresponding author is responsible for confirming that all co-authors meet these authorship requirements, have approved the final manuscript, and have consented to its submission to the journal. Individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria should not be included as authors.

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after manuscript submission are generally discouraged and will be considered only in exceptional circumstances. Such requests must be accompanied by a written explanation from the corresponding author and written consent from all affected authors. Any changes made after acceptance require approval from the editorial team. If an authorship correction becomes necessary after publication, the matter will be addressed through a formal correction notice, subject to editorial assessment.

Author Contributions

To promote transparency and accountability in scholarly publishing, Al-Ghazali: Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan Islam dan Studi Islam encourages authors to provide a clear statement describing the individual contributions of each author. The journal recommends the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which provides standardized categories for identifying contributions to research and manuscript preparation.

Applicable contribution roles may include conceptualization, methodology, software, validation, formal analysis, investigation, resources, data curation, writing – original draft, writing – review and editing, visualization, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition. Authors should identify the roles performed by each contributor, and the contribution statement may be published alongside the article.

At least one author should be designated as the guarantor, where appropriate, to take overall responsibility for the integrity of the research and the accuracy of the published work. All authors remain accountable for their respective contributions and must cooperate in resolving questions concerning the reliability or integrity of the research.

Acknowledgments

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be recognized in a separate Acknowledgments section. Such contributions may include technical assistance, administrative support, funding assistance, general supervision, or scholarly advice.

The names and institutional affiliations of acknowledged individuals should be provided where applicable. Authors are responsible for informing these individuals and obtaining their permission before including their names in the manuscript. Contributions from groups, organizations, or institutions should also be described clearly when they have provided relevant support to the research.

Disclosure of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use

Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools, including large language models, when such tools have been used to assist with manuscript preparation, language editing, content generation, data analysis, or other relevant aspects of the research and writing process.

The disclosure should identify the tool used and explain its purpose in the preparation of the manuscript, where applicable. AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, or ethical compliance of scholarly work.

Authors retain full responsibility for verifying the accuracy of all information, references, interpretations, and statements in their manuscripts, including material generated or modified with the assistance of AI tools. The use of such technologies must not compromise research integrity, confidentiality, originality, or compliance with applicable ethical standards.
