Post-Publication Discussion

Al-Ghazali: Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan Islam dan Studi Islam recognizes that scholarly communication continues beyond the publication of an article. The journal encourages constructive, evidence-based, and respectful academic dialogue concerning published research to foster critical inquiry, clarify scholarly findings, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Islamic education, Islamic studies, and related interdisciplinary disciplines.

In managing post-publication discussions, the journal considers relevant publication ethics principles and recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other recognized scholarly publishing organizations, where applicable. Particular emphasis is placed on maintaining accuracy, transparency, academic accountability, and the integrity of the published scholarly record.

1. Submission of Post-Publication Comments

Readers, researchers, and authors may submit letters to the editor, scholarly comments, or concise critical responses concerning articles previously published in the journal. Such contributions should address a clearly defined academic issue and provide constructive observations, evidence-based arguments, or relevant scholarly perspectives.

Submissions must be concise, academically rigorous, supported by appropriate evidence, and directly related to the published work under discussion. All submissions are subject to editorial assessment to determine their relevance, originality, scholarly value, factual accuracy, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics and standards of professional communication.

Where online commenting facilities are available, the journal may moderate contributions to ensure that discussions remain relevant, respectful, evidence-based, and appropriate for an academic environment.

2. Opportunity for Authors to Respond

Authors of previously published articles will ordinarily be given an opportunity to respond to substantive comments, questions, or criticisms concerning their work. Responses should address the issues raised in a professional and evidence-based manner and contribute meaningfully to scholarly discussion.

Where appropriate and accepted by the Editors, comments and corresponding author responses may be published and linked to the original article. This practice aims to promote transparent academic exchange, facilitate critical evaluation, and enable readers to consider different scholarly interpretations and perspectives.

3. Editorial Assessment and Publication Decisions

The editorial team evaluates post-publication contributions according to their academic relevance, evidentiary support, clarity, and compliance with publication ethics. The Editors reserve the right to decline submissions that are unsupported, irrelevant, defamatory, repetitive, or inconsistent with the journal's editorial standards.

Editorial decisions concerning post-publication discussions will be made impartially and independently. The acceptance of a comment or response does not imply automatic endorsement of the arguments presented by the author.

4. Handling Concerns Regarding Published Articles

Post-publication comments or other communications that raise credible concerns about factual inaccuracies, methodological limitations, research integrity, ethical violations, or the reliability of published findings will be assessed in accordance with the journal's applicable editorial policies, including its Research Misconduct Policy and Corrections and Retractions Policy.

Depending on the nature and significance of the concerns, the journal may request clarification from the authors, seek advice from independent experts, publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, or retract the article when justified by the available evidence and applicable publication ethics principles.

Where corrective action is taken, the journal will provide an appropriate notice and maintain a link to the original publication whenever possible, thereby ensuring transparency and preserving the integrity of the scholarly record.

Commitment to Scholarly Dialogue

Through this policy, Al-Ghazali: Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan Islam dan Studi Islam seeks to promote an academic environment in which published research can be critically examined, questioned, and improved through responsible scholarly exchange. All participants are expected to uphold standards of fairness, professionalism, transparency, and academic integrity.

The journal is committed to addressing substantive post-publication concerns in a timely and proportionate manner to maintain public confidence in scholarly communication and support the continued development of Islamic education and Islamic studies.
